My first experience with photography was when I was 11 years old. My family left one
hot August morning about 3 am to drive to
the coast to take my grandparents fishing.
I was often anxious as a child and had way too much energy to wait for fish to bite, so
I got out my 126 camera and got to work. The sunrise was a soft glow of orange that
morning. I had no idea this was the beginning
of a future love and my future career.
Mom sent the film to be processed and printed, and in only a week's time, I could see
the
pictures. In those few pictures was the most amazing sunrise, and I had captured it!
What's really amazing to me now
is that with all the technology and advancement we
have today, I still managed to capture that sunrise with a 126 film camera.
Since
that epiphany, I have earned a BA in art and continue to find an abundance of
"subjects" to photograph. Although I enjoy traveling,
I don't have to go to exotic places
to find beauty. It's right in my own backyard.
Photographs sometimes don't portray
what the eye and the imagination perceive, so
it is my passion to create paintings of these hidden images.
My goal is to
glorify God by capturing His Creation and moments in time with my
art and to inspire others in seeing that there is beauty everywhere.
